Melton Toad
Welcome to Magenta Toad, the newest
resident of Melton!
He (or she!) is located at the entrance
to the MeltonWest development park and is sponsored by The
Wykeland Group. The South Hunsley Ward to have one of only
two Larkin Toads that have been located in the East Riding.
The remainder are in Hull.
The toads have been designed to brighten
up the environment and to act as a highly visible tribute
to one of England's greatest poets.
Forty of the metre-high toads, each of
each has a name, sponsor and a unique identity, were released
into the urban jungle on 15 Aug as part of a series of events
being staged in the city to mark the 25th anniversary of
the death of poet Philip Larkin.
